Mehrdad Soori

Mehrdad Soori (36) is an electrical technician and follower of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s who was first arrested in October 2006. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison. He is currently being held in Evin Prison.

Majid Alsati

Majid Alsati (35) has a Master’s degree in development and is a follower of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s. He was first arrested in October 2006 and is serving a 4-year imprisonment in exile sentence in Zanjan.

Habib Ghovati

Habib Ghovati (30), has a Master’s degree in accounting. He is a follower of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s who was first arrested in October 2006. He is married and currently serving a 4-year imprisonment in exile sentence in Hamadan.

Alireza Montazer

Alireza Montazer (37) is married with one child and is serving a 4-year imprisonment in exile sentence in Kermanshah. He is a follower of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s who was first arrested in October 2006.

Massoud Samavatyan

Massoud Samavatyan (47) has a Master’s degree in literature. He is a follower of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s who was first arrested in October 2006. He has two children and is serving a 5-year imprisonment in exile sentence in Khoramabad.

Ayatollah Kazemini Boroujerdi

Ayatollah Seyd Hossein Kazemini Boroujerdi (49), arrested on October 8, 2006, is a Shia cleric who advocates separation of religion and politics. He is reportedly suffering from several serious illnesses.

Mehdi Noori

Mehdi Noori (21), a student at Azad University of Naghadeh, is imprisoned in Tabriz Prison. He was convicted of “endangering national security” and sentenced to two years imprisonment.

Security forces detained Noori in June 2006 following public protests in the city of Naghadeh. He was held for 80 days and was reportedly tortured. The authorities released him on bail on September 10, 2006.
