Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived yesterday, September 23, in New York to attend his last UN General Assembly meeting. Accompanied by an entourage of only 140 individuals, the majority unnamed to the public, Ahmadinejad will speak at the UN on Wednesday, September 26. While he told Iranian media he would speak about “solving regional issues, including Syria,” his record over the last eight years shows a series of inflammatory statements and denials of the myriad human rights violations that have been ongoing in Iran under his leadership.

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran recently released a short video highlighting the systematic cover-ups that have accompanied the marked rise in human rights violations over the eight years of Ahmadinejad’s presidency.
