The Education Under Fire initiative, in coordination with a coalition of human rights organizations focusing on Iran, has announced the release of seven new “Angels of Iran” videos. These short films are personal stories of courage and resilience in the face of torture, imprisonment, and execution under the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Beginning 17 January 2012, the videos will be released weekly. “Love and Freedom: The Life of Reza Fani Yazdi” is the first in the series. Featuring former political prisoner, human rights activist, and freelance writer Reza Fani Yazdi and his wife Soheila Vahdati, this 12-minute documentary tells of love, strength, and belief in freedom.

“Torture is all about your identity, about your dignity, about your existence,” Yazdi says in the video. “You think, ‘If I break, if I give up, I have lost my dignity. I have lost my existence. Who am I going to be after that?”’

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran joins Amnesty International, United4Iran, Education Under Fire, The Boroumand Foundation, Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, the Baha’i national communities of the United States and Canada, and other organizations in supporting these new Angels of Iran videos and the DRIVE TO 25 initiative calling for action to end the violations of human rights in Iran.
