Philipine National at Vakilabad Prison Appeals for Help
The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran has received a letter from a man who identifies himself as Ernie Guienoo Tamonde, a citizen of the Philippines. Tamonde wrote that he is being held inside a prison in Mashad on drug charges but professes his innocence.
For months the Campaign has been reporting about allegations, from former prisoners and other reliable sources, of secret group executions inside Vakilabad prison in Mashad.
Amongst those reportedly executed were foreign nationals from Ghana and Nigeria who allegedly did not have access to their embassies or a lawyer during their trials or before their executions. The Campaign wrote a letter today to Philippines Foreign Secretary, Alberto G. Romulo, expressing concern that Tamonde could face execution without proper representation and urged his government to publicly disclose any information it may have on Tamonde’s case.
Sources told the Campaign that throughout 2009 and 2010 prison officials conducted dozens of group executions of reportedly hundreds of inmates. Officials do not inform the inmate’s lawyer or family members prior to implementing the sentence. The inmates themselves are not unaware that it is their turn to be executed until their name is announced within the officials just before the sentence is implemented. Many of those executed we sentenced for drug-related crimes.
Over 600 people remain on Vakilabad’s death row. Some alleged they were tortured by authorities into making confessions.

As an American of Filipino descent, I’m appreciative and grateful for your humanitarian organization to initiate awareness as well as reach out to Alberto G. Romulo of the Dept. of Foreign Affairs, Philippines. Due to the alleged nature of Ernie Tamonde’s offense, I hope and pray that execution is not being considered without due process involving an investigation. I also hope and pray that Iranian laws with regard to prison treatment of non-citizens be treated by International Law standards.

I met Ernie when I was 18, year 1998. He is one of the student of Philippine Christian Ministry (http://www.pcm.ph ). At that time they came to be Interns/ OJT (On the Job Training) in our church. From there He decided to stay in our church and do ministry. He leads young people to know Jesus Christ, He do campus ministry and many young people are now saved from doing wrong things in life, and they have now good direction in Life.

He had been my beloved mentor, my leader, my spiritual father, and my friend before. And he’s still a friend to me today and forever. We had been me in music ministry for years – doing music and arts concerts for evangelism. In the past 4 years, I think, We shared a lot of get-together outings with the SFCC and Sadulawit guys together with Pepper Mallari, Pastor Rommel Mueca, Micheal San Agustin, Pj San Agustin, Elliz Araneta, and the others. I knew him as a passionate and active youth leader in our church. God was using him as a tool to inspire and mold the generations. He thought and did things out of the box. I’d never heard him being accused of selling prohibited drugs or a part of a drug syndicate since the first time I met him. So, now, I am surprised and shocked that he’s in jail only because he was set up by a stranger abroad. I know and still believe in you my dear brother and friend that you did nothing wrong and were just set up by that stranger guy. I pray that you will never lose faith and hope that God is not yet through with your life, that out of your present situation He can turn it into a miracle and a great testimony for others to witness that God is alive and rescues and loves his people whom He loves. I love you “kuya” Ernie.

Ernie Tamonde is the one God used for me to be transformed.. Year 2004 i met him in a high school outreach. I was a lesbian before doing wrong things, all things that the world offers. But when he taught me about God, i realized i was wrong. And then i decided to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I don’t believe he can do drugs… I know him for many years. Even when he traveled abroad still he’s sharing Gods Word. Thank you for the help…

I’m One of Ernie’s friend, a youth Pastor and a Filipino citizen. I know that man very well, He is a GOD fearing person, a Good man, and a Good Friend. It so hard to believe that he can do that thing they are now accusing to him, Ernie could not do that. since the day I met Ernie till the day he go to other country, the same vision That Ernie wants to fulfill in his life that is ” To Glorify God” .before he went to other country he shared his plan to me that’s why I know he will not do anything that could hinder his plan to glorify God.
I am asking now to please pray for Ernie and if you have a friend that could help my friend please let them know his situation and help us to get Ernie back here in the Philippines.

An appeal to all brothers and sisters in Christ, our brother in Iran,Ernie Tamonde is now facing a harsh judgment, either lifetime imprisonment or death penalty, let us have a convergence of mind of what we can do to help a brother in distress, a victim of drug syndicate in Iran, a victim of vague and elusive opportunity here in the Philippines…maybe we can have a signature campaign appealing that the guy is innocent and submit to DFA or to any Philippine Government Agencies concerned and….whatever legal means…we had seen the tragic end of our fellow in China, we cannot afford to be just an spectators of the long list of the victims, crafted by criminal minds… maybe this would be hammering the whimsical minds of the legislators to focus on the job and business generation, a move to keep and hold the citizenry from going abroad, our people, our riches, our hope…why the government is still strengthening the job placements for overseas, why not spend all our energy and resources making and providing the needs of the Filipino people who wish to go abroad, stop sending Filipinos abroad to become slave, educate and train here and provide the job they need… so much for that RH bill… it is an absolute waste of time…
Rimmon A. Paren
to the people behind this campaign, please let us know what we can do to ease to the burden, we do not have the idea about the legal process there in Iran…should it be a signature campaign? a petition letter? just give us the idea and many thanks…ICHRI
