Mobile Human Rights Billboards Confront Ahmadinejad in New York

Print

(22 September 2009) As Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrives in New York to address the United Nations General Assembly, the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran is circulating mobile billboards protesting recent violence and extensive human rights violations in Iran. The mobile billboards (see pictures below) are circulating in midtown Manhattan, near UN headquarters, to focus the attention of the diplomatic community on the human rights crisis in Iran. The Campaign, together with Human Rights Watch urged the General Assembly to take resolute action by appointing a special envoy.

The first picture is just excellent!!The rest not really!

It is Ahmadinejad whose name should be associated with rape, torture, murder, and violence, not Iran. The effect of such wording is when people who never visited Iran think of Iran they immediately think of rape and violence as if these traits are innate in Iranian societies. That’s not the word association we want to create for people. We want people to hold Ahmadinejad responsible for the crimes happening in Iran, not Iran itself. (I am not saying that Americans or other non-Iranians are ignorant and can’t figure out whose responsible. Intellectually most of them would know, but esthetically many can’t help but giving a negative connotation to Iran. At least that’s what socio-linguistics studies show).

All of them are wonderful; it is all about telling the world what is happening in Iran and what has happened recently while US is hosting Ahmadinejad…

Spot on, Sam. Focus on who is responsible. I still wear a green headband every day in solidarity with the oppressed people of Iran.

It is interesting that Zionists rape, murder, destruction, and occupation of Palestinians over the last 60 years have gone un-noticed. However, the coup sponosred by CIA and MI5 in Iran and reaction to it is getting so much attention.
Suprise.

Remove the rest of the billboard and only maintain the first one. Make the association of murder, torture, rape, atrocities, cruelty, injustice, and brutality to Ahamadinejar and make him be accountable for it and not Iran in general. The rest of the billboards send out a fairly wrong message as if all Iranians condone such acts. Lastly, I hope to see the end of this regime soon as Iran is such a beautiful country with rich culture, heritage, history and people that is largely unknown to the rest of the world. Persian food is delicious:)

I wonder where all of this money for this organization is coming from? Is it part of the $600mm allocated by the US gov. for democracy promotion or are the Zionist lobbies and Jewish Organizations providing the funding? Or a combination of both? No seriously Iranians don’t spend a dollar when it comes for such events – plus they are not good organizers.

A few posters including Ari, Aryan and … are regime supporters who come here with pseudonyms to pretend they are independents who support Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad and all islamofascist should be tried in a court for crime against humanity.

Oh my God….. Thank you all, thanks to the Iranian youth who has proven to be so much more capable and active than our generation…… We gave away our country with our silence, now you are getting it back with your blood…. God help you and give you more strength. I, on my part would like to thank you all and say that after 30 years of disgrace, I am finally holding my head up high and say that I am proud to be an Iranian. May we all celebrate our victory in Iran. Love to all,
Fataneh

I have friends imprisoned in Iran because their religion is not Islam. This is the Inquisition era of Islam. Fear of loss of power drives it, the same fear drove Fascism. The other billboard should be “Hitler = Khomeini; Dictators of FEAR”
Love & the Golden Rule will solve our problems now & for the next 500 millenia.
We have been promised by God that Islam will change and be less influential.
Love to all, Tom

As Sam said, the ads should portray Ahmadi Nejad (AN) and Khamenei as culprits in crimes commited against humanity and be held accounntable. Let the Americans and others know that Iran is a beaytiful country that has been held hostage by terrorists and Islamic thugs for the past 30 years.

And Shaboon Bimokh, your name is very suitable to your comments. Even if Israelis are commiting these crimes, it is not against their own people. Time to get your head out of your …
