Apparently Mr. Ban has very limited knowledge about the current state of affairs in Iran, the unthinkable deceit and lies put forth by authorities when dealing with UN agencies and the continuing torture and killing of Baha'is on grounds that are absolutely manufactured and are totally baseless.
as a Baha'i and a Canadian citizen, I would strongly encourage Mr. Ban to look into the matter from a perspective other than that shown to him by the Iranian authorities and open his eyes to the truth.
furthermore, I would encourage the Secretary General to at least attempt to take some "real" steps and do something to stop these gross violations of human rights in Iran.

Even as it recounts nightmarish conditions in Iran, Mr. Ban's report whitewashes the Islamic state. For example, Ban states that: "The 1979 Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran guarantees a wide range of human rights and fundamental freedoms. However, in practice there are a number of serious impediments to the full protection of human rights and the independent functioning of the different institutions of the State."

The report goes on to inaccurately summarize Articles 19 to 42, which constitute section 3 of the constitution. In fact, section 3 does NOT "guarantee a wide range of human rights." It presents what should be rights as privileges, granted, in 6 instances, conditional on consistency with Islamic criteria (which under the constitution are determined by the Supreme Leader and his appointees); in 5 other instances, supposed 'rights' can be limited or removed by law! This is not a 'Bill of Rights,' it is a 'Bill of Limitation of Rights.' And Article 40 states that no right may be exercised if it harms the public interest, making the whole question of 'rights' null and void. Contrary to Mr. Mousavi's slogan "Islamic Republic, not one word more and not one word less," the current atrocities, like past atrocities, are entirely consistent with the Islamic constitution. Methinks the Emperor - in this case, the Secretary General - is wearing no clothes.

Ref: Hengameh Shahidi who has been retained by the Iranian government

To whom it may concern:

Hangameh Shahidi who has been retained by the Iranian government ever since June 30th 2009.

She is a Journalist, Feminist Activist who was currently working in Iran while demonstrating in Iran’s demonstrations against the government.

She has since been retain in an unknown place/jail, (we are suspecting her to be jailed in the Eveen Jail in Tehran), and despised our effort trying to get some information of her whereabouts there is no information about that. She has a heart condition and currently under medications by doctors.

Despite our efforts in trying to find her, there is no information of her whereabouts; we are very much concern about her health and asking your organization to search and finding her .
